Grand Geneva Ski Patrol News

Hello everyone, I hope this finds you well.  Now that the holidays are behind us and a new year has begun, I urge each of you to add one thing to your list of resolutions...help out with the ski corral.  Last Sunday the corral was not open (no volunteers), but guests were using it to store their skis and boards.  If we had $1 for each pair or board, we could have made LOTS of money for our patrol.

The great thing about helping with the corral is its easy, only a 4 hour shift, you can interact with our snow sport guests, and the ski corral ends in February (no long term commitment).  Not the mention the endless benefits: feeling of pride in our patrol as we help our guests, earn money for the patrol so you can fill your fanny pack at the end of the season, get extra shift hours, build camaraderie with patrollers you wouldn't normally see on your shift, and many more.

The sign up sheet is in the patrol room by the calendar, please consider helping out for at least one shift at the ski corral.

Ski Corral shifts are Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-2p and 1p-5p.

Happy Holidays!

Well, this is yet the end of another year. Hopefully 2010 will bring everyone good health and good fortune. As APR Operations, I want to wish everyone a SAFE and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

I would like to take this moment to thank everyone who helped out this year with hill coverage over the holiday season. Your efforts haven't gone unnoticed. For those of us who are unable to make our scheduled shifts, please, please, please make every effort to find a sub for any and all shifts you are unable to cover.

On a side note, there will be a make up meeting on 1/7/10. This meeting will be for the Slope Leaders and Assistant Slope Leaders. We will be covering a variety of topics including: snowmobile protocol, hill coverage, incident reports and more. Please arrive before 7:00 pm. If there are any questions, feel free to contact me before the 7th.

Once again, have a SAFE and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Topher.

Please find information regarding the Southern Regions Skiing Enhancement Seminar. Every Patroller at Grand Geneva is welcome and encouraged to attend these clinics. The Ski Enhancement Seminars offer several group choices for participation.  All groups focus on improving your own ski skills. There will be a separate group for the senior candidates who are encouraged to attend this clinic for exposure to Chestnut’s terrain before the Senior Evaluation.  Registration is required by January 14th and the cost of the class is $30 for one day or $50 for both days.

This is an excellent, low cost opportunity for our patrol to improve our Skiing ability.  If you are interested in attending please follow the instructions indicated on the form. Also, please send me an email as well.
